This African Grey, Spike, has been with the store for 18 years now. He came to us at 3 months old and was hand fed by Lorne. In fact, he regularly calls out Lorne's name throughout the store and when Lorne comes to the desk he thinks it's one of the staff that has called him!!!! He is one of the healthiest African Grey's in captivity as they usually all pluck out their chest feathers from stress. They have been known to live for up to 70 years of age.
He is truly our store Mascot and has regular visitors. He LOVES children and will do all sorts of tricks for them and loves to talk with them. He has a lot of sayings as well as meowing, barking, whistling the theme to Mayberry, etc etc etc. He is on an open perch in the store and even though his wings are clipped he is capable of flying short distances but so far chooses not to. He keeps an "eye" on any dog that comes near and really prefers them to keep their distance!
